Altar Guild

Who:              Anyone Age 13 and up

When:            Weekly

Call:               Carol Moulton

Members of the Altar Guild prepare the appointments in the church and the communion vessels and elements for services and such special occasions as funerals, baptisms, etc. They also cleanse the chalices and other communion vessels after services as well as keep the home communion kits filled and clean

All that is required is an interest in serving the church in this way and a little training in what needs to be done.

The time involved includes about an hour on Saturday mornings, to get the elements and appointments ready for Sunday.  After the 9:30am service, cleanse the vessels and return them to the sacristy cupboard.

The only training required is a run through with an Altar Guild member and, then, work with another member a few times. Members rarely work alone, they usually serve as a team.  We look forward to training anyone interested!!

Worship Committee
The Worship Committee convened in August 2003 with Carol Moulton, Charlotte Pasquale, Ingrid Sanborn, Marilyn Diehl, Starr Anderson and Elaine Hatch present.

We will meet quarterly to map out broad areas of liturgical planning such as the nature and feel of a particular liturgical season. In Anglicanism, the liturgy is perhaps our best tool for evangelism. It is the way we express our theology. It is where we go for answers, for solace, for challenge, and for simply feeling God's presence. When people are being fed spiritually, when we begin cementing into community for no other reason than the faith which binds us together, then we will know that our liturgy is working, that God is being served, and that the church is becoming God's people at prayer.

The Worship Committee at St. James will encourage and nurture liturgies which will unite people in prayer. The Chair is Ingrid Sanborn.
